По мотивам одноименного романа Татьяны Устиновой.Кирилл никак не предполагал, что Настя Сотникова, которую он случайно встретил в Петербурге, окажется ему настолько дорога, что он, плюнув на поездку в Дублин, будет заниматься расследованием смерти ее бабушки. Настя не верит, что бабушка погибла, уронив в ванну фен. Кирилл, обследовав дом, согласен с ней. Чем закончится сериал «Хроника гнусных времен»

Сергей оказывается в воде, Гриша и Кирилл его спасают и отвозят в больницу. Сергей жив, но без сознания. Кирилл уверен, что Сергея пытались убить, а виновным должен был стать он. Александра Тихоновна во всём обвиняет Кирилла.

Кирилл собирает всех вместе. Александра Тихоновна с помощью Владика выставила Гришу бандитом перед Соней. Она же разыграла спектакль с якобы поддельным ожерельем. Клад же привезли из Германии муж Агриппины Тихоновны и его друг Яков.

Домработница Муся внучка Якова. Это она убила Агриппину Тихоновну, которая весь клад забрала себе и не поделилась с дочерью Якова, невернувшегося из лагеря. Кирилл разгадывает карту клада, клад в вазе, но там оказалось всего несколько монет. Мусю отпустили, доказательств её вины нет.

Два месяца спустя. Сергей выздоровел. У Гриши и Сони свадьба. Кирилл дарит Соне колье, которое она продала, а он выкупил у ювелиров. Кирилл и Настя вместе.

Plot summary[]

The Spiderwick Chronicles takes place in New England, United States, when young twins Simon and Jared (both played by Freddie Highmore) and their older sister Mallory move into the decrepit Spiderwick Estate. They discover a field guide to faeries written by the house’s previous owner, Arthur Spiderwick, and soon begin to notice faeries throughout the estate. However, Mulgarath, a shape-shifting ogre, wants the field guide so that he can rule over all faerie-kind (and possibly humans as well) and so attacks the children in an attempt to obtain it.

Mrs. Grace, recently divorced, wants a new start for her family, so the Grace family moves into the Spiderwick Estate when it is given to them by their elderly great-aunt Lucinda, Arthur Spiderwick’s daughter. Mallory uncovers a dumbwaiter system behind a wall; in it, Jared finds a monogrammed key. He also discovers Arthur Spiderwick’s study, and when he uses the key to open a chest, he finds Spiderwick’s Field Guide. Although an attached note warns him not to read it, he does so anyway.

Later, Jared meets a brownie named Thimbletack, who explains that magical creatures are normally invisible but can reveal themselves at will. He tells Jared about a protective circle that Arthur Spiderwick placed around the house and gives him a stone with a hole which allows him to see faeries. Simon, mistaken for Jared, is kidnapped by Mulgarath’s goblins, while Jared meets Hogsqueal, a hobgoblin who gives Jared the ability to see all faeries without the aid of the stone. With Mallory’s help, the twins escape from the goblins into the house.

Jared and Mallory visit their great-aunt Lucinda for advice. She tells them that only one person can help them—Arthur Spiderwick. However, he was «rescued» by Sylphs, a type of faerie, when goblins attacked, and they will not allow him to return because they desire his knowledge. Lucinda tells them that they must find her father and have him destroy the book. Suddenly, Mulgarath’s goblins attack them and manage to steal several pages from the book before they are driven off.

Meanwhile, Simon, aided by Thimbletack, has employed his time to fill plastic bags with tomato sauce, which burn goblins like acid. The siblings use the book to summon Arthur Spiderwick’s pet, a griffin, which takes them to the realms of the Sylphs. There they meet Arthur Spiderwick, who has not aged but is also unaware of the time he has spent there. Spiderwick initially does not want to leave, but eventually changes his mind, and the three escape on the griffin.

On their return, Hogsqueal warns them that one of the stolen pages will allow Mulgurath to destroy the protective circle when the moon waxes full. The family arms themselves with steel knives and tomato sauce. When they are forced into the kitchen, they place all of their tomato sauce and salt into the oven and hide before detonating it, killing all of the goblins.

Mr. Grace enters the house and tells Jared that he came to apologize; however, Jared stabs him in the stomach, revealing him to be Mulgarath in disguise. Jared escapes with the book through the dumbwaiter while Mulgarath transforms into a snake and gives pursuit. On the roof, Jared throws the book onto the lawn; as Mulgarath transforms into a raven to catch it, he is snatched and eaten by Hogsqueal.

The Graces bring Lucinda back to the house; and the Sylphs appear, bringing Arthur. However, he cannot remain, because his age would return to him all at once and kill him. Instead, Lucinda asks to be taken with him, and so the Sylphs transform her back into her six-year-old self and spirit the two away.

Critical reception[]

The Spiderwick Chronicles received generally favorable reviews from critics; it was called «decent entertainment,» «a work of both modest enchantment and enchanting modesty,» and «modest and reasonably charming.» However, it was criticized for its reliance on special effects; a reviewer for The New York Times called it «frantic with incident and hectic with computer-generated effects,» and another said that «the sense of wonder and magic is lost in the shuffle.»

Despite some negative reviews for the film overall, Freddie Highmore was generally praised for his dual role as Jared. One critic said that he «skillfully portrays two distinctive personas,» another said he » no trouble grasping the task at hand,» and a third remarked that, «the most special effect is probably Highmore».

As of March 5, , the review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes reported that 81% of critics gave the film positive reviews, based on 109 reviews, and Metacritic reported the film had an average score of 63 out of 100, based on 29 reviews.

Differences from the books[]

• The final battle against Mulgarath in the film takes place in the Spiderwick estate instead of in Mulgarath’s cave.
• Mulgarath’s appearance is markedly different from his description in the books.
• The Dwarves and their robotic dogs are completely omitted from the film.
• In the books, Arthur Spiderwick is taken captive by Elves, but they are called Sylphs in the film.
• In the books, twins Jared and Simon are nine years old, however, in the film, they appear older.
• The river troll, which appears in the second book, The Seeing Stone, is omitted in the movie,and is replaced with a mole troll.
• In the books, Simon befriends a wounded griffin and names him Byron. In the film, the griffin is already Arthur Spiderwick’s pet.
• The film adds a tunnel under the Spiderwick Estate leading to the town.
• In the books, the children do not use tomato sauce bombs to destroy the goblins.
• In the books, Lucinda doesn’t go to live with Arthur.
• The Phooka, a faerie in the book, is completely omitted from the film.

Iris Sphincter

The iris sphincter, also known as the pupillary sphincter or sphincter pupillae, is an involuntary sphincter that regulates the constriction (narrowing) of the pupil in the eye.

Two different muscles respond to changes in light (known as the pupillary light reflex) that control the constriction and dilation (widening) of the pupils:

• The iris sphincter muscles around the pupils’ rim are responsible for constriction.
• The iris dilator muscles radiating outward from the pupils are tasked with dilation.

When the iris sphincter malfunctions due to medications or other causes, it can cause vision blurred vision and light sensitivity due to miosis (abnormally small pupils). The same can occur if the iris dilator muscles malfunction, causing mydriasis (abnormally large pupils).

Summary

Sphincters are circular muscles that open and close passages in the body. Those in the gastrointestinal (GI) tract help regulate the flow of food from the esophagus to the anus as well as the flow of bile and digestive enzymes into the intestine.

A malfunction of the GI sphincters can lead to problems such as acid reflux, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), and fecal incontinence.

There are sphincters in other parts of the body as well. They include the urethral sphincter, which controls the flow of urine; the iris sphincters, which narrow the pupils; and the precapillary sphincters, which help regulate the flow of blood through smaller vessels.

Precapillary Sphincters

Precapillary sphincters are the most numerous type of sphincter in the human body. These involuntary sphincters regulate the flow of blood into the tiniest blood vessels in the body, called .

There are millions of these microscopic sphincters located throughout the body, including those that service capillaries of the brain. They are important because they ensure a consistent flow of blood—and consistent pressure within the vessels—irrespective of natural variations in a heartbeat.

If precapillary sphincters don’t work as they should, blood can flow freely into the capillaries and create excessive pressure. This can cause fluids to leak out of the capillary walls, leading to edema (fluid buildup) in places like the legs (peripheral edema), lungs (pulmonary edema), or brain (cerebral edema).

Sphincters of the GI Tract

Six distinct sphincters are situated within the GI tract (also known as the digestive system). Some consist of smooth muscles that function involuntarily or by reflex, while others are made of striated muscles that function voluntarily.

Upper Esophageal Sphincter

The upper esophageal sphincter (UES), also known as the inferior pharyngeal sphincter, is an involuntary sphincter found at the end of the pharynx (throat).

The UES protects the entrance to the esophagus, which carries food from your throat to your stomach. The swallowing reflex triggers the opening of this sphincter.

The UES prevents air from getting into the esophagus while you breathe. It also prevents you from breathing food into your lungs. Because of its location, the UES also plays a role in burping and vomiting.

Malfunctioning of the UES can cause problems swallowing, which is known medically as dysphagia. The UES can also be affected by a chronic (persistent) acid reflux called gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD).

Lower Esophageal Sphincter

The lower esophageal sphincter (LES), also known as the cardiac sphincter, is an involuntary sphincter located at the bottom of the esophagus, where it connects with the stomach. (The term cardiac in this context does not refer to the heart.)

The LES lets food pass from the esophagus into the stomach and allows air to escape from the stomach when burping. It also prevents stomach acid from washing back up into the esophagus. A malfunction of the LES is one of the primary causes of GERD.

Pyloric Sphincter

The pyloric sphincter is located between the stomach and the first part of the small intestine, called the duodenum. The pyloric sphincter opens to allow partially digested food to pass from the stomach into the duodenum, where it will be exposed to bile and other digestive enzymes.

A malfunction of the pyloric sphincter can cause bile (a digestive enzyme produced by the liver) to back up into the stomach and sometimes the esophagus. Symptoms of bile reflux are indistinguishable from those of acid reflux.

Sphincter of Oddi

The sphincter of Oddi (SO) is an involuntary sphincter located where the pancreatic duct and common bile duct are connected to the duodenum.

The pancreatic duct delivers digestive enzymes from the pancreas that then mix with bile delivered from the liver via the common bile duct. The SO ensures that the right amounts are released when food passes into the duodenum.

Sphincter of Oddi dysfunction (SOD) is a condition where this SO doesn’t work as it should. This causes bile and pancreatic enzymes to back up into the stomach. A relatively rare disorder, SOD can cause waves of stomach pain along with severe chest pain.

Ileocecal Sphincter

The ileocecal sphincter is an involuntary sphincter located where the small intestine and large intestine (colon) meet.

Also known as the ileocecal valve, not much is known about this sphincter. It is thought to regulate the movement of partially digested food from the ileum (the last section of the small intestine) to the large intestine.

Anal Sphincter

The anal sphincter is located at the opening of the rectum at the end of the digestive tract. The anal sphincter regulates defecation (the evacuation of stool from the body).

The anal sphincter has both inner and outer muscles:

• The inner sphincter is involuntary and prevents stool from leaking out.
• The outer sphincter is predominantly voluntary and allows you to pass or hold stool on demand.

A malfunction of the anal sphincter can cause fecal incontinence (the loss of bowel control).​
