Career
She acted in a number of adult movies in the 1970s. She was a famous gallerist from 1978–1985: La Galerie Sylvia Bourdon, 16 rue des Grands Augustins, Paris 6 and BD 36 (restaurant exhibiting cartoons), 36, rue Grégoire de Tours Paris 6.
In 1985, she began an eleven-year effort to hold a contest for the European Community’s most talented artists to design the then new European currency and have the entries judged in a 12-nation referendum. The «Graphic Ecu Competition» officially launched in April 1993 and, at one point, had twelve European central banks participating. After the contest ended in 1996, none of the contests’ 97 banknotes and 44 coin designs were used for the new European currency. Bourdon later sued the European Union over its decision to call the single currency the Euro instead of the Ecu, the name inscribed in the Maastricht Treaty. Her operation is mentioned in a thesis published at MacMillans New York, by Oriane Calligaro: NEGOCIATING EUROPE.

Сильвия Берова родилась 17 апреля 1945 года в городе Измаиле Одесской области.
Отец — Леонид Саввич Беров, композитор и музыковед.
Окончила Кишиневскую консерваторию по специальности «теоретик-музыковед».
В 1968 году окончила Театральное училище им. Б. Шукина.
В 1968-1969 — актриса Тульского театра драмы.
В 1969-1992 годах работала в Кишиневском театре им. Чехова.
Преподает актерское мастерство и художественную речь в Кишиневской академии музыки, театра и изобразительных искусств. Доцент кафедры актерского мастерства.

Широкую известность получила в 1966 году после роли Бэлы в экранизации романа М.Ю. Лермонтова «Герой нашего времени» режиссером Станиславом Ростоцким.
На момент съемок она была первокурсницей театрального вуза, Сильвия Берова стала исключением из правила — ей разрешили сниматься по просьбе Станислава Ростоцкого, лично просившего ректора училища им. Шукина отпустить Берову на съемки. Строгие критерии, предъявленные режиссером к актрисе на роль Бэлы, включали не только молодость, красоту, умение петь и танцевать, но и нерусскую национальную принадлежность, что, кстати, отразилось и на дальнейшей карьере, когда после выхода фильма за Сильвией Беровой прочно закрепился типаж таинственной и романтичной восточной красавицы. Роль сделала Сильвию Берову знаменитой на всю страну.

В 1968-м снялась в роли Зульфии в узбекской мелодраме «Парень и девушка». В фильме внешне как будто ничего не происходит. Нет никакой истории, никакого сюжета. Авторы фильма вроде бы и расставляют то там, то здесь ловушки для зрителя, и кажется, вот-вот начнется, но ничего не начинается. Движение чувств — единственное движение этой картины. По сюжету у старого грузовика с заглохшим мотором встречались Сабир и Зульфия. Никто давно на нем не ездил, никому он не был нужен, но в воображении влюбленных увозил их этот старый грузовик далеко-далеко, в страну, где все мечты сбывались.

Заметными стали работы в картинах «Иду на вулкан» (Гюлистан), «Родила меня мать счастливым…» (мадам Стокица), «Дикий ветер» (Злата).

Сильвия Берова вместе со своим супругом, музыкантом Григорием Бутучелом, снялась в клипе Жеты Бурлаку на песню «А century of love», которая представляла Молдову на «Евровидении-2008».
В 2010 году Сильвия Берова вернулась на экран, сыграв в фильме «Свадьба в Бессарабии».
27 декабря 2011 года актриса была удостоена звания Заслуженный деятель искусств Республики Молдова.

Замужем. Супруг — Григорий Бутучел, музыкант. Они поженились во время учёбы Беровой на третьем курсе Щукинского училища.
В 1968 году, когда Сильвия Берова закончила Щукинское училище, она получила предложение работать в нем преподавателем. Также и многие театры Москвы хотели видеть талантливую молодую актрису на своих подмостках. Однако Сильвия уехала в Кишинев вместе с мужем. Основной проблемой для продолжения карьеры в столице было отсутствие московской прописки, но совет развестись ради этого с любимым мужем Беровой, выбравшей любовь, ею вообще не рассматривался.
Дочь — Кристина Бутучел, киновед, окончила ВГИК.
Внучка — Ана-Стасия, снялась в фильме Валериу Жереги «Сотворение любви», где сыграла роль девочки Молки.
В свободное время Сильвия Берова на загородной даче занимается выращиванием орехов, любит вязать.
